This Saturday, November 30, 2024, Roc Saint-André (Morbihan) will welcome the 34e Strides, and 22e hiking tours organized by the Roc Loisirs association.

The association aims to finance medical research and provide support to patients.

We hope for a great mobilization of all generations of the population

Daniel Lucas, president of Roc Loisirs.

All profits from the event will be donated to the three causes supported this year.

Support the fight against breast cancer

The donations collected will make it possible to finance projects at the Eugène Marquis center in , a national benchmark establishment.

“The donations are used to finance research, including that on the early treatment of disorders linked to breast cancer, but also for example an awareness bus which circulates in or to finance the development of a conviviality room to make psycho-sexual consultations as warm as possible and offer support workshops” explains Doctor Adèle Dessaint.

Encourage bone marrow donation

With the “Réveille Ta Moelle” association, priority is given to raising awareness and recruiting new donors.

Each year, 2,500 patients with serious blood pathologies, such as leukemia, depend on a transplant to hope for a cure.

Hervé Bernard, bone marrow transplant recipient, testifies: “The transplant is a rebirth, like my new date of birth”.

Emphasizing the simplicity of the process, with a saliva sample for voluntary donors under 35, could increase registrations on the donor register and save more lives.

Finally, part of the funds will be dedicated to research on prostate cancer, carried out by Professor Mathieu's department at Pontchailloux hospital in Rennes. This center welcomes many patients from the region, for whom this funding is essential.
