Gégé, a peasant on the run

“The Blue Line: The Flight”

Gégé, a colorful peasant, embarks on a road movie across to meet today's peasantry. Discussing with his counterparts who have been able to intelligently diversify their operations, he gives us an enthusiastic overview of the situation in this new documentary from “La Ligne bleue” entitled “L'Envol”, Monday December 2 at 11:05 p.m. on France 3.

Gégé is a unique farmer : just retired, after a long, eventful career rich in experience (milk producer, calf raiser, then peasant “educator” to thousands of children in the Parisian suburbs), he sets out on the roads of France at the wheel of his old R25. For his jubilee, he feels the need to feel the excitement of today's peasant world. Faced with an agricultural world in full upheaval, he goes to meet a lively, inventive rural world and new practices that he did not suspect.

With authenticitygenerosity and a lot of humor, Gégé, this colorful peasant, takes us in his road movie on the roads of the French countryside. From farm to farm, he interviews these new farmers who live their profession far from mega-farms or intensive livestock farming. In Figeac, several people work on a cooperative farm. Different workshop managers complement each other and can replace each other. The milkmaid brings her milk to the cheesemaker, the wheat producer gives his flour to the baker, etc. Everything is pooled and the benefits shared. Further on, Gégé meets a couple who, like him, took in young delinquents.

95% of the time, this kid was being an idiot. But, in the 5%, you found a way to pay him a compliment. Suddenly, it's impossible happiness, and then he wants to have others.

Gégé

The road to Gégé continues in the farm-guinguette-gîte-peasant scene where hospitality is an art. Then in a yurt farm-house. Each of these farmers finds an agricultural model that suits them and allows them to survive outside of large inhumane and unsustainable infrastructures.

Welcoming kids from the suburbs saved me financially, but even more so humanly.

The Blue Line

The Blue Linethese are stories on a human scale that resonate in each of us and tell us about the diversity of France. Territories in which the issues affecting our society are played out, on their own scale. Individual itineraries of charismatic characters, collective adventures beyond institutions, diving into the heart of a territory in full transformation, these are the major societal issues that we want to show through experience, as close as possible to its actors.
