71 firefighters (and 26 vehicles including a large ladder) were mobilized during the night from Wednesday to Thursday in Bâtie-Rolland (Drôme) for a very large fire in a public works company, Soterex, located in the Planas artisanal zone. The alert was issued at 1:40 a.m. Two buildings of 500 m2 located on the road to Montélimar (the RD540) were completely engulfed in flames when help arrived. One of the warehouses collapsed. The fire did not cause any casualties. Thanks to the extensive equipment deployed by the firefighters, two other buildings were spared from the flames.
Fire under control but firefighters remain on site all day
At 7:30 a.m. this Thursday morning, the fire was under control but the firefighters, who will reduce the number of personnel, will remain on site all day to extinguish the last outbreaks. The destroyed warehouses contained fuel, materials and construction equipment. The company which employs 20 employees does not plan for technical unemployment. The ZA Planas could be deprived of electricity for part of the day: to intervene, the firefighters were forced to cut a high voltage line overhanging the blaze. Departmental road 540 (route de Montélimar) remains closed to traffic this Thursday morning. Diversions have been put in place.
