A 53-year-old teacher was tried on Tuesday, November 26, at the Bergerac court, for corruption of a minor and sexual assault by an adult having authority over the victim. For a year, from August 2023 to June 2024, he had formed a romantic relationship with a former third grade student, still a teenager.
A consensual relationship but falling within the scope of the law and which brought together “two shipwrecked people of life”, according to the prosecutor: she psychologically very fragile, he alcoholic, lacking perspective and maturity.
“He does not have the profile of a sexual predator but did not know how to maintain the right distance and things went completely wrong,” judges the magistrate. His first mistake was giving him his phone number at the end of the patent. »
The fifty-year-old was sentenced to two years in prison, including one year, which he will serve at home. He is prohibited from having contact with the victim. Suspended during the procedure by the rectorate, he will no longer be able to carry out an activity putting him in contact with minors, and therefore teach, for ten years. He will also have to undergo addiction treatment.
