This Tuesday, the Tarn criminal court delivered its verdict in a rape case dating back to the summer of 2022. As indicated by our colleagues from The Dispatcha 54-year-old man was on trial for the rape of one of his colleagues.
The events took place at the home of the defendant who was ill at the time. In order to check on him, a colleague decided to visit him. This is where the rape allegedly occurred. The fifty-year-old was then quickly placed in pre-trial detention following a complaint from his victim.
Ten years in prison and an ITF
This rape trial began behind closed doors on Monday. The verdict, delivered the next day, was pronounced with a certain firmness, commensurate with the seriousness of the facts with which the accused is accused. Taking into account the circumstances detailed during the hearing and the worrying profile of the man, the Tarn criminal court opted for a severe and exemplary sanction. The defendant was sentenced to ten years of criminal imprisonment as well as a ban on French territory (ITF) for five years.
Present during the trial, the victim did not hide her anxiety from the opening of the session. She was finally relieved that she was able to leave the court, happy that her victim status was recognized by the court.
