At the end of two days of hearing at the Calvados criminal court, a 48-year-old defendant was sentenced, on October 4, 2024, to six years in prison for the rape denounced by his partner at the time, at night from July 26 to 27, 2017 in Longues-sur-Mer, in Bessin.
The forty-year-old appealed. The accused with a clean criminal record, “without any particular danger”, cite son avocat Me Marand-Gombar according to the psychiatric expertise, and “perfectly inserted”also appealed his incarceration to the Caen investigating chamber.
If he does not contest repeated violence, he defends himself from any imposed sexual act. “After 56 days of incarceration, I need to find my life on the outside, my wife, my children,” the suspect declared to the magistrates, by videoconference.
The victim herself indicated that she was not opposed to being released. No objection from the attorney general to placement under judicial supervision either.
The investigating chamber granted his request for release. The Norman, who now lives in Paris, should be retried in April 2025.
