The institution, which is publishing its 2023 tax audit report for the first time, has detected 137 million euros of fraud in Gironde. Carried out among individuals and companies, 50% of whose situations were detected by artificial intelligence, via data exchanges with other State services, banks or random checks, these tax inconsistencies have a recovery rate of 63%.

In its press release, the DRFIP Nouvelle Aquitaine gives the example of a Girondin who had deliberately failed to declare an account in Monaco which had a balance of 3 million euros. The administration therefore took 840,000 euros from him in tax, before applying an 80% increase in the amount of 672,000 euros for his fraudulent maneuver.
The use of IGN maps made it possible to reveal 10,000 undeclared Gironde swimming pools, which represent 2.4 million euros in property tax not collected by local authorities.
