Thirty-five little elected officials have started a new adventure… For two years, they will work for their comrades and for their city within the children's municipal council. And they already have a lot of ideas!
For two years, we followed the first municipal council of children. Posters and badges to fight against harassmentwaste collection day, great CM2 boom, discovery of the Senate or even a week in Pléneuf-Val-André, we were (almost) on all the trips. Well, here we go again. Their successors took possession of the boardroom and donned, not without a certain haste, the tricolor sash.
What ideas!
There were 70 of them apply and to lead a campaign in all schools in Chaumont and Brottes. There are therefore 35 of them, like their adult counterparts, who now sit on the municipal children's council. And at barely 9 years old, our CM1s have ideas and resource. Everyone chose their commission: Environment, Solidarity and Culture, sport and entertainment. Before receiving their tricolor scarf and passing under the expert eye of the photographerjust to immortalize the moment, the young elected officials introduced themselves to their comrades during their first plenary session broadcast in direct on the city's Facebook page.
“Make young people’s voices heard!”
They gave their qualities before exposing their ideas et projects for the future of the city. Those for which they were elected.
Once again, respect for planetthe fight against harassment and discrimination, support for people with disabilities, intergenerational work and new activities for children were at the heart of the professions of faith. “I want to make the words of young Chaumontais heard and learn to become a citizen!” slipped Gabryel de Sainte-Marie. What made Cila de René Cassin want to get started was above all to “know my city and how it works, to represent my comrades and my school to find solutions to all their worries”
The new board is installed. –
And then?
They will meet this November 26 to list, prioritize and vote for the projects that they wish to implement in their committee. Some are already well advanced, like “continue the project against harassment, a visit to the barracks firefightersput boxes for donations, books and ideas”, ideas mentioned by Maxim de Jules Ferry. It must be said that he was at a good school since he succeeds his big sister.
Some reforms
Others are already planning meals once a month at the cellars or in the village hall with elderly people, longer recess periods, toy collections for hospitalized children, insect huts, vegetable gardens and chicken coops in all schools, an Olympiad day, more green spaces and trails bicycles, etc.
Each school is represented. Antoine, Maxim and Sam were elected to Jules Ferry. –
“Be accountable for what you do, do not hesitate to present what the municipal council of children to your comrades” insisted Christine Guillemy, mayor of the City. “Because the city of tomorrow is being prepared today.” Our little budding citizens already seem to have understood this, like Paul from the Jean Macé school. “I love my city and I would like to participate in its projects”. See you soon for the rest of their French adventure.
