Grande Conque beach accessible again this week

After several weeks of closing due to a significant risk of landslides coming from the cliff, the site of Grande Conque beach in Cap d’Agde should reopen to the public at the end of this week. Security work is underway.

The Grande Conque beach is once again accessible! In a press release, the City of Agde announced that Work to secure the cliff of Grande Conque beach has begun. These intervene in order to avoid any risk of landslides and falling stones due to the erosion of the volcanic rock. The start of this work marks the imminent reopening of the beach as announced by the mayor of Agde, Sebastian Frey : “Work to secure the cliff of Grande Conque beach is underway. Access to the beach will be possible again from the end of this week.”

Part of Grande Conque beach is prohibited

Despite the lifting of the ban on the Grande Conque beach site, some parts of the area will remain off-limits to swimmers. Indeed, the safety work will last several weeks and is only the first phase of this vast project. Consequently, a safety corridor will be put in place that the population must imperatively respect, as well as the order prohibiting access to this beach. Finally, it should be noted that rope access technicians are carrying out purges on the cliffs considered to be the most dangerous, as a preventive measure.
