A coat rack that starts to walk; tables and chairs that slide, spin, while a section of wall opens and detaches to let a couple of dancers emerge; a dress that twirls according to its own desires… As you will have understood, Aurélia Thierrée has a run-in with the world around her. The optical illusions and visual effects of Bells and Spells form a fantastic setting. That of an interior space in perpetual reinvention, doing only what it wants, heckling our compulsive thief, herself manipulated by what she steals and the elements around her.
In such a fairyland of visions as whimsical as they are fantastic, the inanimate comes to life, humor invites us to let go and rediscover a part of childhood wonder. This moment of pure pleasure where we play at bewitching things, inventing powers that defy reason and probability. Behind the petty thefts and incongruous metamorphoses, revealing a pantheon of chimeras, a deep desire for freedom and joyful restlessness also emerges; that of artists, mother and daughter, opening wide the doors of their imagination to invite us to the celebration of a dream to share.
