LThe events took place on May 27, shortly after tensions arose between people who wanted to attend Rima Hassan’s meeting and people presented as being from the Jewish Defense League who allegedly tried to prevent them from doing so.
At the end of this meeting, 8 members of the Young Guard decided to take the metro and look for people to attack. They then took line 2. Around 8:20 p.m., between the Victor HUGO and Charles de Gaulle stations, they identified a 15-year-old boy as a “Zionist”. They surrounded him, questioned him about his relationship with Palestine, insulted him and hit him several times. One of the members of the Young Guard decided to film this attack.
The record audio of the attack is broadcast on the Instagram account of the group “Young Guard”. It shows the victim forced by the members of the Young Guard to shout “Long live Palestine”. The very next day, the young man will file a complaint against the Young Guard, after this anti-Semitic attack.
Opening of an investigation
On June 27, 2024, the 8 members of the Young Guard were indicted for group violence resulting in incapacity for more than 8 days in a means of collective passenger transport due to race, ethnicity, nation or religion (an offense punishable by 10 years of imprisonment). The Medico-Legal Unit retained 12 days of incapacity for work for the victim due to the psychological impact of the anti-Semitic attack.
The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed to Frontières that the eight members of the Young Guard have been placed under judicial supervision since June 27.
These elements are added to the long CV of the New Popular Front candidate and triple S file Raphaël Arnault, already the target of an investigation for apology of terrorism, and another complaint for death threats against Alice Cordier and Mila after having threatened to “put a bullet in their head”.
