George Springer hit a three-run homer and the Toronto Blue Jays cruised to a 7-6 victory over the Houston Astros on Tuesday.

The right fielder capped a four-run third inning with his ninth home run of the season.

Spencer Horwitz had homered three batters earlier, with two outs.

In the first inning, Justin Turner gave the Jays the lead with a one-run single, again with two outs.

Toronto added two runs in the fourth on a passed ball and an RBI double by Addison Barger.

Jose Berrios (8-6) allowed five runs and five hits in five innings.

Nate Pearson and Trevor Richards linked the third save to Chad Green.

Green allowed a double to leadoff hitter Jeremy Pena in the ninth. He responded with two swinging strikeouts before retiring Jose Altuve on a fly out.

Altuve had three singles in the game.

Yordan Alvarez hit a three-run homer in a losing cause.

Spencer Arrighetti (4-7) allowed seven runs and six hits in four innings.

The Astros had won three straight games, while the Blue Jays had lost their last two.

Among the crowd was Ontario’s Shaedon Sharpe of the Portland Trail Blazers.

CHW: Luis Robert (10) homered and drove in four runs. Andrew Vaughn (11) also homered.
CLE: Daniel Schneemann (3) and Tyler Freeman (7) hit home runs.

St. Louis 7 – Pittsburgh 4
STL: Nolan Gorman (17) hit a gran slam, his second of his career. Alec Burleson (13) also stretched his arms. Ryan Helsley earned a MLB-high 31st save.
PIT: Jack Suwinski (7) and Andrew McCutchen (12) had home runs.

NY Mets 7 – Washington 2 (10 innings)
NYM: The Mets scored five times in the 10th, including two on Pete Alonso’s (18) homer. Francisco Lindor (14) also had a home run.
WAS: Reliever Robert Garcia (0-3) took the loss, giving up five runs, four earned, on four hits in one inning.

Cincinnati 5 – NY Yankees 4
CIN: Elly De La Cruz hit a triple and a homer in his first game at Yankee Stadium and drove in two runs. Will Benson (9) also homered.
NYY: Aaron Judge (32) had two hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs.

San Francisco 5 – Atlanta 3
SF: Jorge Soler (10), LaMonte Wade Jr. (3) and Heliot Ramos (11) each hit a home run.
ATL: Austin Riley (10) and Sean Murphy (4) each had a home run.

Detroit 3 – Minnesota 5
DET: Justyn-Henry Malloy (4) and Ryan Kreidler (1) drove in all of the Tigers’ runs with home runs.
MIN: Manuel Margot (3) and Carlos Correa (10) each had one home run.
