It has been almost a year since the inhabitants ofEstrées-Saint-Denis and surrounding villages, in the Oise, can no longer dive into the pools of their aquatic center.
Since January 2024, the equipment has been the subject of major work, for the “comfort of swimmers” and “to save energy”.
More than 157 names proposed
Before reopening the swimming pool to its regulars and to students from surrounding schools, the community of communes of Plaine d'Estrées (CCPE), which manages the establishment, had decided to find it a new name.
Its users were then asked by the community to make designation proposals. An approach that was successful!
“From August 27 to September 15, 2024, 100 participants proposed more than 157 names,” indicates the CCPE, which is delighted with a “great mobilization”.
The CCPE has decided
So, what will be the new name of the Estrées-Saint-Denis swimming pool? Léon Marchand, quadruple medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games? Florent Manaudou? A local personality? Finally, it is the name “Aquaplaine” which was retained by elected officials.
It is also the one that Internet users suggested the most. This name makes it possible to identify both the use of the site (aqua) and the structure which supports it (plain for Plaine d'Estrées).
Even if the swimming pool and its regulars now know its new name, the renovation work carried out inside it is still in progress.
Aquaplaine will reopen its doors in February 2025, and “promises great surprises” to its users, warns the CCPE.
