Le Point : Where do you think the rift between the French and Emmanuel Macron comes from?
Louis Gallois: The French are less and less accepting of the vertical exercise of power, of which the dissolution is also a new manifestation. But it is the pension issue that marked a real break in the five-year term. They had to be reformed, but we could have gone about it differently. The totem of the legal age could only set some against others. Why not have taken the path of extending the contribution period, as Marisol Touraine did under François Hollande? The financial effect is less rapid but it is much fairer, particularly with regard to long careers.
Doesn’t the implementation of protective devices show the inefficiency…
