In 2021, according to INSEE data, people over 60 represented 37.6% of the population by Challans. According to a ranking of Figarothe city of Vendée would be a good place to live for seniors.

In the Top 100

Challans appears in fact in the Top 100 municipalities with less than 40,000 inhabitants where it is good to live for people over 60 years old. In detail, the municipality is in 65th place.

In this ranking, Le Figaro took into account all municipalities with more than 9,000 inhabitants and screened several criteria. Among them: health with the number of specialists, businesses, demographics, flights, etc.

In total, 35 criteria were taken into account and divided into six categories according to coefficients.

Strengths and weaknesses

In detail, the best rank obtained by Challans is for the environment where it ranks 38th out of 817. Next come demographics (76) and flights (149).

The municipality obtains an average rank in terms of health with 168th rank. The same goes for commerce where it is in 279th place.

The municipality is rather classified as a poor performer when it comes to leisure, culture and sport with 631st rank.
