Looking back at the 2023-24 season in Espoirs ELITE

A few weeks after the Trophée du Futur and while all the championships have given their verdict, it is time to take stock of this 2023-24 season.

Recomposition of collective forces

Cholet and Lyon-Villeurbanne less prominent, Nancy (Champion of France) and Bourg-en-Bresse (winner of the Trophée du Futur) are the two titled teams of this season! If the Nancy team of the coach of the year, Pierre Verdière, and the MVP, Guillaume Grotzinger, dominated head and shoulders this year, the JL had an excellent Trophée du Futur for Arnaud Tessier’s last season on the bench. Unseeded after its fifth place in the regular season. Bourg-en-Bresse has confounded all predictions.

New and classic at the top of the table

Like its professional team, ASM Monaco is developing a real project on its training center embodied by Mickaël Pivaud and of which Mohammad Amini (the new Nancy player) was the spearhead this year. A structure that allows ASM to qualify for its future trophy after having been neck and neck with SLUC for two thirds of the season. Behind, BCM is also back on the front of the stage and will integrate Roman Domon 100% into its pro team next season. In the Top 8, we also find regular teams in recent seasons such as Limoges CSP, Nanterre or Roanne and Strasbourg.
