The Grande Boucle must stop at Mûr-de-Bretagne on July 11, 2025. But as has already been noted on previous occasions: passage of the Tour de France in Guerlédan (Côtes-d'Armor) does not necessarily mean increased activity for owners of gîtes in the area.
“It’s just a one shot”
Carole, who holds the Ty Kalon Breizh in Guerlédan, recognizes that the Tour brings “a lot of people and dynamism to the sector. But this audience is not not my target : these are people who come for the night whereas my gîte is more of a family gîte that we will rent for a week. The Tour de France is just a one shot In fact. »
But the virtual absence of impact on accommodation on the Grande Boucle does not only concern “classic” lodgings.
Complete thanks… to the Red Cross
At Les Vergers de Guerlédan, an independent stopover lodge which often operates for overnight stays, Christelle doubts the impact of the Tour on this type of accommodation.
I don't know if the people who accompany the Tour de France are big rental houses. They are often in campers.
In any case, if Christelle actually filled her establishment for a whole week during the last visit of the Tour, in June 2021, it is only thanks to “the Red Cross. They were desperate for accommodation and I welcomed them…”
She already knows that her 32 places will not be occupied by fans of the next Tour next summer: “A week before we learn that he will return to Guerlédan, a association had already reserved all the places! »
A very popular arrival
“The vast majority of visitors come by car, for the day,” observes Alexis Le Priellecdirector of the Loudéac Community Tourist Office. Above all, it is the campsites which are full every time during the Tour’s visits to Mûr-de-Bretagne.
A very popular finish, likely to attract a lot of people because “the big 'plus' is that it makes a loop and the runners pass twice”.
Indeed, in this public, many motorhome owners “who come three or four days before arrival” to be sure of being in the front row, “or else aficionados who follow the entire Tour.
Priority to the faithful…
An increase in hotel activity is also observed for overnight accommodation. “But it is above all the organizing teams du Tour, the press, etc. than the spectators who use it,” specifies Alexis Le Priellec.
And this also concerns “a much wider scope. Next year, with a departure for Saint-Méen-le-Grand the day after arrival at Mûr, it will be more the sector of Merdrignac and Rennes who will benefit the most.”
As for campsite attendance, “it may be a little different next summer because the summer camps will have started.”
And they have priority, being “loyal” customers who come back every year.
