Khouribga will have a new industrial zone for an envelope of 1.5 billion DH – Telquel.ma

ADuring this session chaired by the President of the Regional Council, Adil Barakat, in the presence of the Wali of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region and the Governor of the Khouribga province, the members of this elected body approved a memorandum of understanding aimed at setting up an industrial park for an amount of 1.5 billion DH which should ultimately generate some 20,000 direct jobs.

Subject to a memorandum of understanding between the Council of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, the Chinese company for the creation and management of industrial free zones « Holley Global »the CRI, the Wilaya of the region and the province of Khouribga, this project will be intended to house industrial companies specializing in the fields of automobiles and spare parts, electromechanics, furniture and textiles, household appliances, electronic products, fodder as well as renewable energy products.

It will ultimately contribute to diversifying the region’s economy and directing its development towards promising industrial sectors. The members of the elected Council also approved a Cooperation and Partnership Protocol between the Béni Mellal-Khénifra Regional Council and its counterpart Draa Tafilelt, under which the two entities undertake to strengthen road infrastructure and accelerate the opening up of both sides.

This protocol also aims to upgrade the tourist sites of the Grand Atlas chain in its axis linking the two regions and to promote the exchange of successful experiences in various fields.

It also aims to support cooperation programs in the areas of continuing education for elected officials, administrative executives and technicians on each side. Subsequently, the members of this elected body unanimously approved a Partnership Agreement for the construction of a cultural complex in the province of Azilal.

This Agreement, which binds the Council of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, the province of Azilal, the Moroccan Cinematographic Center, the Sawt Al Jabal Foundation for heritage and sustainable development, the Atlas tourist development SDR and the Imma Hanna Company, consists of the construction of a cinema complex in the commune of Ait Taguella (Ouzoud Azilal).

The overall program of the complex, which covers a covered area of ​​1,500 m2, includes a cinema hall with a capacity of 220 seats, a secondary cinema hall, a cinema library, a computer room, a training room and several other facilities. The Regional Council subsequently gave its approval for the adoption of a memorandum of understanding between the United Nations Human Settlements Programme and the Beni Mellal-Khenifra Regional Council.

This memorandum provides for a framework for cooperation between UN-Habitat and the Council of the region, with a focus on territorial development projects and the implementation of a new urban agenda, taking into account the sustainable development goals. Thus, the UN organization intends to strengthen the capacities of executives and elected officials in the region in line with their respective responsibilities.

The members of the regional council then approved a partnership agreement for the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region. This agreement concluded between Innovative Energy and Efficiency (INEE), a subsidiary of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion group, the Regional Council and the Wilaya of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region aims to promote energy efficiency in the region by working on the integration of renewable energy into the energy mix and improving the performance of public lighting in addition to the decarbonization of industrial zones.

Speaking on this occasion, the president of the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, Adil Barakat highlighted the dynamics that the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region is experiencing in several sectors, in particular, industry which is experiencing remarkable growth with the establishment of the new industrial zone of Beni Ykhlef. The president of the region called on all members of the council to join these projects and to show seriousness and responsible commitment in order to complete these projects in accordance with the established schedules.
