Opening of the Lifeguard Stations at Vias-Plage: Lifeguards in Place for the Summer Season

Friday, June 28 marked the official opening of the first aid stations in Vias.

The seasonal lifeguards of the Hérault Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS 34) have taken up their duties, spread across six rescue stations.

The welcoming ceremony was led by a SDIS lieutenant, who reminded everyone of their crucial role and missions for the coming season.

Among the personalities present were Major Lauriane Rouquayrol, commander of the Marseillan gendarmerie brigade, accompanied by officers from the Pézenas Gendarmerie Surveillance and Intervention Platoon (PSIG). Jacques Bolinches, deputy mayor in charge of technical services, Marie-Christine Lefondeur, Director General of City Services, as well as the head of technical services and the head of the municipal police were also present for the occasion.

From now on, all the resort’s lifeguard stations will provide daily surveillance from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The central and dunes aid stations will remain open until September 23, while the Delta, Saint Geneviève, Kabily and Méditerranée stations will operate until September 9.

Parents are reminded that the presence of lifeguards does not in any way exempt them from close supervision of children when swimming and playing at the seaside.

In order to minimize the risks, it is crucial to take into account your physical condition before swimming. In addition, it is recommended to follow the safety instructions and to inquire with the lifeguards as soon as you arrive at the beach.

With this implementation, Vias is preparing to welcome holidaymakers in complete safety, thus ensuring a summer season marked by vigilance and prevention.
