“I have a Jew as an ophthalmologist and a Muslim as a dentist”: RN candidate responds to accusations of racism

The candidate of the National Rally, Paule Veyre de Soras, from the 1st constituency of Mayenne, justifies accusations of racism by referring to her “Jewish ophthalmologist” and “Muslim dentist”.

It’s a slip-up. In a video posted on YouTube on Sunday, June 30, election day, the candidate for the National Rally, Paule Veyre de Soras, from the 1st constituency of Mayenne, tried to respond to accusations of racism targeting her party. “It’s false, completely false,” she says in front of the camera of the local newspaper leglob-journal. Then she adds, “I have a Jew as a dentist and I have a Muslim as a dentist.”

“In the RN, we have Spaniards”

Just before this statement, Paule Veyre de Soras had affirmed that, “in the National Rally, we have Jews, Muslims, Spaniards. I myself am Catalan, my grandfather was born in Barcelona.”

These reactions were widely shared on social networks and sparked many reactions. “Something natural that comes back at a gallop,” writes Sandrine Rousseau on X.

Paule Veyre de Soras qualified for the second round of the first constituency of Mayenne against Guillaume Garot, candidate of the New Popular Front.
