Greater Poitiers welcomes the CPIE Seuil du Poitou

The general meeting of the CPIE Seuil du Poitou took place on Saturday, June 29, 2024, under the co-presidency of Éliane Grellety and Agnès Calès and in the presence of Pierre Nenez, deputy mayor of Poitiers in charge of biodiversity and greening.

The Cinev (Centre d’initiation à la nature et à l’environnement de la Vienne), labelled CPIE (Permanent Centre for Environmental Initiatives) in 2003, will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025. The CPIE carries out several missions: on the one hand, environmental education for all and on the other hand, supporting local authorities and socio-economic actors in a sustainable development approach.

In 2023, the CPIE Seuil du Poitou raised awareness among 25,000 people by working in particular on the themes of biodiversity, water, waste, food, health and gardening through educational activities, training, support, stands, workshops and nature outings.

“While the commitment deployed by CPIE employees and volunteers to sustainable development and the path towards ecological transition is total, the means to achieve this are not always available.regrets Agnès Calès. In order to ensure financial balance, we had to integrate the increases of all kinds that appeared during the year. But we are not waiting and have been thinking about seeking sponsorship and partnership with the business sector. The danger came from where we least expected it: the re-sale of the Chitré mill and therefore the move to Beaumont-Saint-Cyr.

Many projects for 2024

“Z’héros” waste family challenge with the Pays Loudunais, Eau’lympiades in Loudun, awareness program for agents of the commune of Chasseneuil-du Poitou, participatory science around butterflies with the City of Poitiers, development of a second biodiversity atlas with Grand Poitiers, resumption of awareness actions on flood risk with the EPTB Vienne, water challenge with the inhabitants of Saint-Georges-lès-Baillargeaux, Dissay and Chasseneuil-du-Poitou… are all projects to come this year.
