The mayor of Bourgoin-Jallieu, Vincent Chriqui, is following the instructions of his party Les Républicains: for him, in the second round, his vote will go neither to the RN nor to LFI. This is what he announced in a press release on Tuesday, July 2, following the announcement the day before of the withdrawal of Marjolaine Meynier-Millefert (Ensemble!) in the second round on channel 10e constituency. “It is absurd to claim to block the RN by voting for a party, LFI, in many ways even more revolting, begins the northern Isère councillor. For me it is clear: no vote should go to LFI. However, I do not forget what the RN is: a party that is profoundly anti-European, anti-liberal, irresponsible in economic and budgetary terms, and therefore the opposite of my commitment. I cannot vote for its candidates, even by default. In these conditions, I will be led to vote blank, which I have never done before in any election, but unfortunately I see no other solution.”

As a reminder, the town of Bourgoin-Jallieu straddles the 6e and the 10e constituency. On the 6e constituency, Alexis Jolly (RN) came out on top, followed by Yaqine Di Spigno (NFP) at 20.85%. In the 10e constituency, Thierry Perez (RN) collected 42.83% of the votes against 25.43% for Joëlle Richol (NFP).
