The National Rally (RN) and its LR allies supported by Eric Ciotti came out on top in 97 duels, 158 triangulars and 3 quadrangulars.

Faced with the risk of the arrival of a majority of far-right deputies, the leaders of the New Popular Front (NFP) have called for their candidates who came third to withdraw when the RN and its allies are in the lead. The only exception is the NFP candidate Magali Crozier, who is holding on to the sixth constituency of Hérault, where she will face two far-right candidates: Julien Gabarron (RN) and Emmanuelle Ménard (supported by the RN in 2022).

In the centre, while President Emmanuel Macron called for a blockade against the far right, his allies had more difficulty in giving a clear message against the far right party, some admitting that they did not want to vote for the candidates of La France Insoumise even against the far right.

While qualified candidates have until Tuesday evening to stay or withdraw for the second round, 7 members of Ensemble announced on Monday that they intend to stay, even in constituencies where the far right came first and where they are only third (a scenario that occurred 58 times after the first round). Seven candidates on the right want to do the same, as well as a candidate from the center.

3 Renaissance candidates

14th constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône : Anne-Laurence Petel estimated that her score of 28.91% could allow her to win the second round. She came behind Gérault Verny (RN, 31.65%) and Jean-David Ciot (PS-NFP, 29.48%).

1st constituency of Hérault : Patricia Miralles (22.54% of the vote) came third behind Josyan Oliva (34.11%), supported by the RN and Eric Ciotti, and Jean-Louis Roumégas (Les Ecologistes-NFP), who came in second by 40 votes (34.04%). Despite the latter’s calls to candidate Renaissance, she has so far refused to withdraw in his favor.

1st constituency of Val-d’Oise : Emily Chandler obtained 25.46% of the votes. She comes in third place after Anne Sicard (RN, 33.65%) and Maximillien Jules-Arthur (LFI-NFP, 30.8%). On Twitter, she calls on her voters to vote again for “build the republican bulwark against the RN and LFI”.

2 candidats Horizons

He is also placed behind the LFI-NFP candidate Olivier Salerno (26.62%). However, the Horizons candidate remains convinced of being “the most capable of bringing people together”, according to a post on his Twitter account. In 2022, he blamed a LR MP who did not call for voting for Emmanuel Macron in the second round of the presidential elections. “Because I believe that the Republican fold has the capacity to act as a barrier to the extreme right […] must call for national unity,” he had estimated.

2nd constituency of Essonne : Naïma Sifer collected 22.09% of the votes, far behind Nathalie Da Conceicao Carvalho (RN) who managed to collect 40.3% of the votes. The Horizons candidate also comes after Mathieu Hillaire (LFI-NFP, 26.54%). However, at the time of writing, Naïma Sifer is maintaining her candidacy.

2 MoDem candidates

9th constituency of Isère : Elodie Jacquier-Laforge reached 27.26% of the vote, behind Cécile Bène (RN, 34.04%) and Sandrine Nosbé (LFI-NFP, 27.99%). Despite her third place, the MoDem candidate does not wish to withdraw for the time being.

4th constituency of Drôme : Emmanuelle Anthoinewith 23.98% of the vote, is almost 15 points behind the RN candidate, Thibaut Monnier (38.37%). 7th constituency of Oise : Maxime Minotthe outgoing MP, obtained 21.52% of the votes, behind David Magnier (RN, 40.43%) and Loïc Pen (PCF-NFP, 27.18%). Despite this disadvantageous position, the right-wing candidate is asking Loïc Pen to withdraw. “A denial of reality”, according to the communist candidate, based on comments reported in The Picardy Courier.

8th district of the Rhône : Nathalie Serre obtained 20.66% of the votes in a four-way race, in which she therefore came fourth. She is positioned behind Jonathan Géry (RN), Anne Reymbaut (PS-NFP) and Dominique Despras (MoDem). The last two do not wish to withdraw. “My voters do not vote for the RN, nor for Macronie, nor for LFI. If I withdraw, I am playing into the RN’s hands,” she said to BFM Lyon.

3 diverse right candidates

3rd constituency of Ardèche : Fabrice Brunthe outgoing MP who left LR after Ciotti’s decision to join the RN, is maintaining his candidacy, considering that he has “always standing as a bulwark against extremes of all sides.” With 26.48% of the votes in the first round, he came behind the RN candidate Cyrille Grangier (31.95%) and the LFI-NFP candidate Florence Pallot (28.31%).

1st constituency of Creuse : Valerie Simonet came third with 22.12% of the vote. She was beaten by Bartolomé Lenoir (RN, 33.35%) and Catherine Couturier (LFI-NFP, 23.47%). “I will obviously not withdraw my candidacy,” nevertheless considered the candidate in a publication on Facebook. She analyzes that the votes of the eliminated Renaissance candidate will be directed towards her candidacy. She nevertheless calls on her opponent of the NFP to withdraw, “and [elle] wants to block it as it claims to do.”

5th constituency of Saône-et-Loire : Gilles Platret obtained 19.06% of the votes, which allowed him to remain in the second round in the framework of a four-way race where he is fourth.
