As clubs recover, the calendar next season’s schedule is starting to take shape with the draw for future intercontinental competitions. Montpellier spared, tough for Bayonne, here is Challenge Cup groups for the 2024-2025 season.
The Challenge Cup groups for the 2024-2025 season
Like last year, the clubs participating in the 2024-2025 Challenge Cup will be divided into three groups of 6, including, for the Top 14 clubs, Pau, Perpignan, Lyon, Bayonne, Montpellier and Vannes.
- Poule 1 : Cardiff, Connacht, Cheetahs, Perpignan, Lyon, Zebre
- Poule 2 : Montpellier, Pau, Newcastle, Dragons, Lions, Ospreys
- Group 3: Vannes, Black Lion (Georgia), Bayonne, Scarlets, Edinburgh, Gloucester
Each club will play four matches against a different opponent in single matches, with duels between teams from the same championship being limited to a maximum. The precise programme will be determined in the coming weeks by the EPCR.
The 2024-2025 Challenge Cup calendar
As is now customary, the Challenge Cup and Champions Cup will begin after the international tests in November, with the first fortnight of competition in December. Here is the Challenge Cup calendar for the 2024-2025 season.
- Day 1 – December 6/7/8, 2024
- Day 2 – December 13/14/15, 2024
- Day 3 – 10/11/12 January 2025
- Day 4 – January 17/18/19, 2025
- Round of 16 – April 4/5/6, 2025
- Quarter-finals – 11/12/13 April 2025
- Semi-finals – 2/3/4 May 2025
- 2025 EPCR Challenge Cup Final on 23 May 2025 at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff
