After a few years of absence, the activities celebrating Canada Day were a success at Lac Saint-Louis Park.
Presented by the La Tuque branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, they welcomed a good crowd throughout the afternoon of the evening, Monday. The focus was on the newcomers, umbrellas were given as a form of protection and empathy to welcome them to La Tuque. A presentation of the families of a first wave of newcomers, a few decades ago, was made by the 646 Air Cadet Squadron. They also provided a good helping hand in holding this event.
The Member of Parliament for Saint-Maurice-Champlain and Minister François-Philippe Champagne was on site, he even cooked hot dogs with members of the Legion. The owner of Biztro Mauricien, Ritesh Natoo, gave an interesting presentation on his journey and the reasons that brought him to La Tuque.
The group Arsenal, including among others Régis Gravel from Latuquois, offered a journey through time through different musical decades, just before the 10 p.m. fireworks.
Without making an official statement, members of the Legion could well repeat the event next year.
