The Prime Minister unveiled his plan to combat victims of domestic violence this Monday. It includes four main measures: providing each department with a women's center, reimbursement by health insurance for kits to detect chemical submission, an increase of 7 million euros in resources devoted to emergency aid and extend the possibility of filing a complaint in all hospitals in France, which has already been the case at Nancy University Hospital since 2022.
This system was the subject of an agreement between the hospital, the Nancy public prosecutor's office and the France Victimes 54 association. It not only allows each victim to file a complaint directly at the hospital without having to open the doors of a police station, but it also allows victims to be supported in all their procedures upon leaving the hospital.
In 2024, the CHRU supported 154 victims of domestic violence. Only six of them filed a complaint at the hospital, six others did so later.
“This agreement made it possible to define the roles and places of each person” explains Anne-Sophie Gavriloff, president of France Victimes 54. “for our part, we provide victims with our lawyer to facilitate the filing of a complaint which will then be transmitted on the floor. It is also possible for a police officer or gendarme to travel to the hospital to collect the complaint, but filing a complaint is not everything in the treatment of domestic violence, we also offer monitoring and support for victims. upon their release from the hospital.
