Basketball has always held a special place in Saint-Brieuc. With the Cob, then the Saint-Brieuc basket, the Briochins have been imbued with a real basketball culture. By taking up the torch, just ten years ago, with at its head, successively Géraldine Le Brun, Michele Guidon, Walter Konow and myself since November, the Élan has maintained this sporting approach. Where is the club today?
It is doing very well with a workforce that has grown from 130 licensees, originally, to 207 today, divided into sixteen teams, only male after the U13s. But due to lack of slots, we are full and have to refuse many registrations
Today, with teams in all categories from U9 to seniors, the age pyramid is complete. Our U20s, champions of Brittany honor, will compensate for the departures of the “old guard” of the flagship team. This which was not the case this year, resulting in the relegation of team 1 to the regional level. While maintaining the family spirit that is in our DNA, we will be able to show ourselves to be ambitious again. The steering committee and the team of volunteers are already preparing to host the Harlem Globe Trotters in Steredenn in the spring.
