BFM-Lyon has just lost a significant portion of its audience.

Victim of the takeover of the Altice Media group by CMA-CGM, the local antenna has in fact disappeared from TNT, as has BFM Alsace.

On televisions not equipped with an internet box, a black screen now appears.

This is explained by the fact that a “DTT frequency cannot be transferred within five years of its authorization by Arcom” explains BFM Lyon on its website. However, the Lyon frequency had been granted by the Audiovisual Regulatory Authority in 2021…

This meant that Altice could not sell BFM Lyon, or that CMA-CGM would give up broadcasting it on DTT after acquiring it.

“We are sorry for this inconvenience. We respect the law of course. For those who have a box it is possible to continue watching BFM Lyon. BFM Lyon continues to broadcast and remains available on all channels except TNT”reacted Philippe Antoine, general director of BFM Régions.

Arcom will now put back into play the DTT frequencies released by BFM-Lyon and BFM Alsace. Frequencies for which CMA-CGM will obviously apply, without the assurance of finding them again.

It remains to be seen what impact this black screen has on the audiences of the local Lyon channel, for whom it is occurring in the middle of the legislative election campaign.
