The La Rochelle University Foundation and the Francofolies present the citizen conferences of the Francocean village!

The La Rochelle University Foundation has set itself the mission of acting in favor of a desirable future by supporting students, research and knowledge sharing. Among the projects it carries out throughout the year, thanks to the support of its partners, it notably supports conferences and round tables for raise awareness among as many people as possible about environmental issues. And this summer the Foundation is launching into off-site programming with a choice ally: the Francofolies!

The La Rochelle festival is also involved in an approach of environmental responsibilityconvinced that such an event can be an opportunity for festival-goers to learn about the challenges facing society, to question their practices and to find solutions through experience. This is why Le village Francocéan was designed! Eco-citizen and musical, it offers a varied program, including citizens’ conferences : one-hour meetings that bring together experts, artists and field workers to help understand the challenges of sustainable development and identify solutions to sustainably transform our society and our lifestyles.

It is therefore quite natural that these two local players have come together to present together the 2024 citizens’ conferences ! By combining their expertise and their values, the La Rochelle University Foundation and the Francofolies are committed to making hear the importance of sustainable actions within everyone’s reach.

Paloma Moritz and Cyril Dion will orchestrate the program with four conferences dedicated to the ocean. Topics covered will include threats to the ocean (and us), strategies to conserve water, the links between climate and migration, and the collective actions needed to protect the ocean.

Did you know ? La Rochelle University has specialized its research on all sustainable development issues in coastal areas. During the festival, in the Francocean Village, the LIENSs laboratory and the Marina invite you to come and discover marine biodiversity through the presentation of our aquariums! Free access, every day for the duration of the festival.

4 conferences dedicated to the Ocean

From July 10 to 13, meet every day at 1 p.m. to participate in the conferences:

  • Wednesday July 10 – Threats to the Ocean (and Us)
  • Thursday July 11 – Climate and migration: how to protect and save?
  • Friday July 12 – Water: what solutions are there to preserve it?
  • Saturday July 13 – Acting together for the ocean
