“A crowd at the rendezvous” and a “thrilling final”. These are the first impressions of the general director of the Classique Pif, Jean-Charles Doyon, at the end of the 47th edition, which concludes on Sunday evening with the finals of the Invitation classes.

Even though Mother Nature played tricks on the final moments of the event, on Saturday, the organizers of the Classique Pif are giving a positive assessment of the 47th edition, which was once again held in many Sherbrooke parks, including Parc Quintal.

The latter was the scene of the finals in provincial classes, as well as in invitation classes. According to Jean-Charles Doyon, the amateurs were treated to the excellent ball throughout the seven days of the Pif Classic.

We really had a great week, excellent competitions, both men and women. Despite the rainy day on Saturday, we finished with an extraordinary Sunday afternoon. added Mr. Doyon.

In a press release, the organizers assured that they had put everything in place to allow players to play in safe conditions after the rain on Saturday.

Sustained enthusiasm

For years, the Classique Pif has been the event that kicks off summer in Sherbrooke. The 2024 edition was no exception, according to Jean-Charles Doyon. He sees that fans come out year after year, especially when the weather is mild.

Without calling 2024 a record year, Mr. Doyon believes that the public has once again responded. Without the rain, the organization could have broken attendance records, he believes. Up until Friday we were on track to break records, but Saturday is always a big day. The rain changed the plans, but we had one of the biggest Sundays ever at the Pif Classic. So we’ll do well he believes.

Let us recall that once again this year, the Pif Classic welcomed 52 teams from Quebec, Ontario, the Maritimes and the United States. The competitions were held over seven days, in four tournament classes: the Matelas Houde Women’s Provincial Class, the Évènements DS Men’s Class, the Publiforme Men’s Invitational Class, and the Fix Auto Women’s Class.

The 48th edition is scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 6, 2025.
