A little over a year after paying top dollar to acquire defenseman Jakob Chychrun, the Ottawa Senators are shipping him to the Washington Capitals for another defenseman, Nick Jensen, and a 2026 third-round pick.

In 94 games with the Senators, Chychrun has collected 46 points, including 16 goals. The left-handed defenseman is leaving the Canadian capital to head to the American capital.

Already counting on Thomas Chabot and Jake Sanderson on the left side, Ottawa has chosen to strengthen the right side with the acquisition of Jensena 33-year-old veteran who established himself in the National Hockey League (NHL) in the fall of 2016.

He started his career with the Red Wings from Detroit before heading to Washington.

In 562 matches in the NHLhe collected 134 points.

Four free agents arrive in Ottawa

A few minutes later, the Senators signed Quebec forward David Perron to a two-year contract.

He will receive a total salary of eight million dollars.

In addition to obtaining an offensive role, the native of Sherbrooke, in Estrie, will have to fulfill a leadership role for the young players of the Senators.

In 1131 matches in the NHLPerron registered his name on the score sheet 768 times. He notably won the Stanley Cup with the Blues from Saint-Louis in 2019.

General manager Steve Staios also agreed to terms with the forward. Noah Gregor for a year. He spent the last season with the Maple Leafs from Toronto.

The Senators continued their shopping spree with the addition of the forward Michael Amadio for a three-year term. He will receive a total salary of $7.8 million. The main interested party had played five games in Ottawa during the 2021-2021 season. He won the Stanley Cup in Las Vegas in 2023.

The Quebec defender Jeremy Davies was added to the lineup in the afternoon. He signed a one-year, two-way deal. If he plays in Ottawa, he will pocket $775,000. If he is sent to Belleville in the American League, he will instead earn $350,000.
