A cold case about to be solved? An investigation has been opened after the discovery of bones in Bully-les-Mines (Pas-de-Calais) near Lens on a construction site, and investigations are underway to check whether this could correspond to the body of a woman who disappeared in 1967, we learned Monday from police sources.

The judicial police were called in following the discovery of “bones” on June 20 under the construction site of the future municipal swimming pool, a police source indicated. According to the first elements of the investigation, this skeleton could be that of a woman aged 18 to 25, whose body has been in this place for at least 50 years, reports another police source. Therefore excluding the possibility of a soldier’s skeleton, which was considered for a time.

The trail of a woman who disappeared in July 1967

Investigators are trying to establish whether a connection is possible with the disappearance of a woman, last seen alive in July 1967 in Bully-les-Mines, adds this source. According to our colleagues at RTL, it is Fatima Abdesselam-Tani, a nursing assistant last seen on July 4 of this year around 7:30 p.m., as she was leaving her mother’s home, located a few kilometers from the construction site.

An investigation has been launched by the Criminal Brigade of the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS) of the Interdepartmental Service of the Judicial Police (SIPJ59). According to both sources, the investigations are ongoing, and for the time being the body has not been identified.
