Dakar, July 1 (APS) – The outgoing president of the board of directors of the Senegalese Society for Copyright and Neighboring Rights (SODAV), Ngoné Ndour, was re-elected to her post on Monday for a third three-year term, APS noted.

The music producer obtained 33 votes out of 36, ahead of her challenger, the musician singer Djiby Guissé of “Frères Guissé”, who obtained 3 votes, at the end of the vote organized in the premises of Sodav in the presence of journalists.

The election took place under the supervision of the bailiffs’ offices SCP Diatta, Ndiaye and Faye and SCP Fame and Ba, and in the presence of the managing director of Sodav, Aly Bathily.

According to the latter, the vote was organized in accordance with the company’s statutes (article 13.8).

“The voters,” he explains, “come from three colleges made up of authors, performing artists and producers and publishers.”

After a first three-year term in 2016 and a second in 2021, the producer of the “Prince arts” label is returning for a third term until 2027.

Ngoné Ndour, who is continuing the process, believes that many challenges need to be met, including the application of remuneration for private copying (the royalty levied on recording media), the revision of the statutes and all the operating texts of Sodav.

Other challenges include “raising the fair wage rate, the headquarters construction project, among others.”

“Since 2016, a magnificent job has been accomplished by the board of directors and the managing director, and the balance sheet presented each year is certified by the auditor. Sodav is a structure closely monitored by the State. We have undergone a lot of checks, and the renewal of Sodav’s approval follows an investigation commissioned by former President Macky Sall,” said the PCA.

“I did my duty in relation to my cultural environment. There is no clan. Our objective is to improve the living conditions of artists, because we have to be accountable,” said Djiby Guissé, the new administrator of Sodav.

He is committed to working for transparent management and good governance of the structure.

Sodav held its annual general meeting on Thursday, at the end of which 1/3 of the board of directors was renewed.
