OL: Pierre Sage extended for two years at Lyon – Olympique Lyonnais

Now holding the diploma allowing him to coach in Ligue 1, Pierre Sage will sign a contract with Olympique Lyonnais until 2026, plus an optional year. John Textor has kept his word.

Appointed in the middle of the winter of 2023, when OL was at rock bottom in the Ligue 1 standings, Pierre Sage quickly showed that even if he started on the bench of a team of this level, he had all the qualities to become an exceptional technician. Even if the XXL winter transfer window carried out by John Textor’s club allowed Lyon to radically strengthen, the former director of the Lyon training center largely contributed to OL’s qualification for the Europa League and the club’s presence in the Coupe de France final. And the only concern that Sage had, namely the lack of the right diploma to work in Ligue 1, having now been lifted, the owner of Olympique Lyonnais has finalized an agreement with his coach. An official announcement should be made before the resumption of the 2024-2025 season scheduled for August 16.

OL and Pierre Sage, agreement until 2026

The team announces that Pierre Sage will sign with OL until 2026, with an option for an additional year depending on his results. Hugo Guillemet specifies that Pierre Sage has recently received offers from abroad, but that the 45-year-old French coach declined these proposals, being determined to continue in Lyon. It is true that OL gave Sage a chance and it would have been hard for the club from the capital of Gaul to see him leave so quickly. All’s well that ends well for the man who has become the darling of Olympique Lyonnais supporters.
