Following the first round of legislative elections in the 9th constituency of Loire-Atlantique, Bastian Maldiney (National Rally) sent a press release to present its analysis before the second round.

“The inhabitants of the Pays de Retz were so strongly mobilised that I came out on top in 27 out of 37 communes with almost 30,000 votes,” he wrote, noting that “Mr Brard, the Macronist candidate, is in the lead in only 6 communes.”

Although he achieved a certain score in Pornic, he does not have an absolute majority, which proves that he clearly does not have unanimous support.

“Nothing is decided, everything is possible”

Thus, according to him, “voting for Jean-Michel Brard would ultimately be counterproductive because, being a Macronist, he will not sit in the future majority in the Assembly, whether relative or absolute. His power of action will therefore be very limited as a result, being an opposition elected official.”

He concludes that “we must therefore amplify the national dynamic for the benefit of the RN; I am realistic and confident in the good sense of the inhabitants of the Pays de Retz.”

He also mentions the candidate of the New Popular Front, Helen Maconwhich “is content to be in the lead in only 4 municipalities”. The latter had not yet positioned itself, on Monday July 1, 2024 early in the afternoon, on whether or not to stay.

“Nothing is decided, everything is possible in this constituency as populated as a city like Angers or Le Mans (more than 160,000 inhabitants). I achieved the best score in the department in number of votes for an RN or Union of the Right candidate,” he wrote again.

Bastian Maldiney appeals to abstainers

He also promises: “I will not disappoint my voters because for 40 years, they have alternated between left and right and dissatisfaction is constantly increasing. This is why I invite abstainers and all voters to mobilize so that they have an active MP and to help Jordan Bardella obtain a strong majority that will really change people’s daily lives.”

And he dismisses calls to vote: “I am convinced that voters have had enough of these pseudo-directors of conscience. They obviously do not need the hand of their mayor or anyone else to make up their minds.”
