It was a bolt from the blue in the Cholet political landscape this Monday evening.is July. Gilles Bourdouleix announces to West France his withdrawal from the legislative elections. The candidate of the Union of the Right for France, supported by the RN, came in second place in the first round, with 30.54% and 16,066 votes. Outstripped in the 5th constituency and in his town of Cholet by the outgoing deputy Renaissance, Denis Masséglia.
“Disgusted by a nauseating electoral campaign that insults democracy and our fellow citizens, I decided to return home. There will be no other comments other than appeals concerning illegalities committed by a candidate,” writes Gilles Bourdouleix, in a succinct SMS. “I am clear and will not make any further comments,” he confirms in a second message.
