Many citizens and tourists sat on the Dufferin Terrace from 11 a.m. for the launch of the festivities for the 157th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. The event kicked off with the raising of the Canadian flag.

“I think that more and more people are saying that […] It’s a celebration to highlight that we live in Canada, it’s a beautiful country, we have fun and we have more and more people who come from elsewhere, people who arrive in the country, who are happy to live in Quebec, a safe city, and we want to make this and our traditions known with our children,” explained Louise Harvey, producer of Canada Day in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.

Entertainment is planned throughout the day, both on the Dufferin Terrace and on the Plains of Abraham. The festivities will end with the closing show, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the Kiosque Edwin-Bélanger, featuring Jeanick Fournier, the big winner of Canada’s Got Talent.

“People know they’re going to have fun and there’s something for everyone,” Harvey added.
