The 5e constituency was the first to be able to provide a definitive result in Morbihan. It was certainly the smallest in number of candidates (four) and voters (80,809 voters). But she also had motivated tellers!

The scrutineers are the voters who carry out the counting of the votes. They can be designated by each of the candidates or lists present, but can also come spontaneously and voluntarily by making themselves known beforehand, sometimes the same morning at the polling station.

In Lorient, there were more of them than usual. Example at city hall: in office 25, there were 18 instead of 8 in the last European election. In office 24, there were four tables of four people instead of two tables. “We counted the votes in 1 hour 10 minutes, whereas three weeks ago it took 1 hour 30 minutes, with fewer voters.”specifies Audrey Levieil-Loher, the president of the polling station.

“My way of participating”

At the tables, there are quite a few newcomers… Among them Maelys, 19 years old, her mother Aurélie, 42 years old, and Karen, 33 years old. “This election has decided a lot of people, note Karen. This is my way of participating.”

“This is the first time I’ve voted.explains Maelys. At the office, a former middle school teacher offered me, I said yes, for the experience. And it’s an important election. I’ll come back for another election. It was nice.” “And it’s just an hour of our time”adds his mother.

At their table, they were guided by their neighbor Armelle, 66, a regular. “It’s a civic act that I’ve been doing for 15 years. »
