the essential
It is on Place de la République, in front of the footbridge (Passage side of course!) that the start of the first round – vintage Mobylettes® will take place.

The 70s/80s will probably remain as the double decade which marked the 20th century with its lightness, the wind of freedom which was still blowing and the nostalgia of this era can be found today in clothing fashion, music, furniture or again the TV programs which inundate us with retrospective broadcasts.

The moped has become a moped

The mobs are one of the symbols of these carefree years, they are sometimes bought back at a high price, are refurbished, “reimproved” and their owners take pleasure in meeting again, which will be the case for this walk organized by the association From the old steering wheel to the leaky pot which is also at the origin of the meetings in Passage, every last Sunday of the month, in the parking lot of the hyper Casino.

The refrigerator became Frigidaire®, then fridge, the moped became Mobylette®, then mob. In fact, Mobylette® is only the name of one of the models (AV88), from the Motobécane brand, otherwise known as the famous “blue”. This iconic model will become a common name given to all mopeds produced from the 1970s onwards.

The ride of happy mobers

This first round will take place on an 85 kilometer circuit and it is indeed a ride and not a competition. It will bring together all the enthusiasts of the “blue”, the drivers of 103, 104 (Peugeot), MBK or other “bikes” or “wheels”, who will be expected on their arrival to share a meal offered by the caterer Talenton, after having made a little snack stop at La Romieu, in the middle of their journey.

“Mobers” will be able to benefit from assistance in the event of a breakdown or beaded candle and will be given, at the end of the ride, a souvenir plaque of the event.

The association does not intend to stop there, its core group of small-engine enthusiasts are already planning the organisation of their next event which will take place on 17 and 18 August in Sérignac: “The 6 hours of the twisted bell tower”.

The round of vintage mopeds, Sunday July 7, departure 9 a.m. from Place de la République in Passage. Registrations 06 07 67 24 64 or 06 87 82 44 84, with meal €23, without meal €18, accompanying person €13.
