RC Vannes, promoted to the Top 14, achieved a masterstroke on the transfer market by signing Fijian winger Filipo Nakosi. The Fijian international, aged 32, leaves Castres Olympique to join the Breton club until 2026. This acquisition marks a significant strengthening for Vannes, which is seeking to consolidate its squad in preparation for its first season in the elite of French rugby.

Nakosi, standing at 1.83m tall, brings with him extensive Top 14 experience. After starting his career at Agen, he then played for Toulon before joining Castres in 2019. During his five seasons with the club Tarnais, he participated in 97 matches and scored 24 tries, thus demonstrating his efficiency and talent on the field. He was also a key element in the 2022 final, although lost to Montpellier (29-10).

The recruitment of Nakosi is part of Vannes’ desire to acquire experienced and high-performing players to face the challenges of the upcoming season. By joining Vannes, Nakosi finds a new challenge and an opportunity to continue to shine on French pitches.

For Castres Olympique, this departure was anticipated and the club has already recruited wingers Rémy Baget, from Bayonne, and Christian Ambadiang, from Nevers, to compensate for this loss. These reinforcements show the capacity of the CO to renew itself and maintain a high level of competitiveness.

This transfer illustrates well the dynamics of the Top 14 transfer market, where each club seeks to strengthen itself to achieve its objectives. For Vannes, the arrival of Nakosi is a strong signal of its ambitions for next season, while Castres continues to build a team capable of competing at the highest level.

With this new recruit, Vannes supporters can have high hopes for the coming season. Nakosi, with his experience and talent, will undoubtedly be a valuable asset for the Breton club in its quest for success in the Top 14.
