The public transport authority of the Lille metropolis anticipates “major disruptions” on its network on Tuesday, in a context of social movements and the passage of the Olympic flame.

Traffic on the Lille urban area transport network is expected to be “seriously disrupted” on Tuesday 2 July due to the passage of the Olympic flame and a social movement within the company, the Ilévia transport authority predicts on Monday.

On metro lines 1 and 2, the trains will “run with a modified frequency” during the day, in this case one every 2.5 minutes on line 1 and one every three minutes on line 2.

Major disruptions on the tramway

The disruptions will be more palpable on the tram network: Ilévia plans a passage every 15 minutes on the shared Gare Lille Flandre-Croisé Laroche section and 30 minutes on the Tourcoing branch. Furthermore, the Gare Lille Europe station will not be served between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.

“Following the work (scheduled until August 25, Editor’s note), the relay buses which provide the connection between the different termini and Roubaix/Tourcoing will run with modified frequencies,” specifies the management, without giving figures.

Many bus lines canceled or diverted

Significant disruptions are also anticipated on the bus side, with “modified frequencies and amplitudes” on some of them. Others will not run, in this case lines 9, 30, 32, 35, 36, 51, CO1, CO3, C10, C11, C12, MWR, Z6, L91E, CITL and the Navette du Vieux-Lille ( NVL).

The bus lines passing through the perimeter of passage of the Olympic flame “will be diverted to the Lille and Roubaix/Tourcoing sector” with modifications to the terminus as well.

The V’lille self-service bicycle stations located within this perimeter will also be “inaccessible during the event”.
