NÎMES Little chefs for a moment of sharing

Cooking was put in the spotlight at the Jean-Moulin nursery school.

39 CM1 and CM2 students formed workshops and brigades to prepare surprise baskets that they cooked with the help of the students’ mothers and guests who came to the event. Among them, Léa Chiari, a pastry chef in Nîmes and Khalid Konate, a pastry chef in Bessèges. This project was born thanks to Estelle, the teacher of this class of little cooks. Her passion for cooking gave her the idea of bringing together: “I have always been passionate about cooking, this way of bringing people together, it is even a universal language. I have seen nine-year-old children cook better than me because they already do it at home by helping their parents.

A teacher involved with the Cannelle association

Just before covid, the idea of creating an association was born in order to promote these cooking workshops. With always the same objective: to bring together and create links. Estelle therefore passed her CAP cuisine in order to best supervise these workshops and train from a young age. Estelle had another idea: “We thought about a mobile kitchen, so that we wouldn’t be limited to Nîmes.” This makes cooking even more accessible to everyone, taking inspiration from Petites Cantines, a non-profit network of neighborhood canteens.
