La Jarrie is preparing to transform its landscape with an ambitious project of 7,450 m2, carried out in partnership with the La Rochelle Urban Community. This includes the development of a bus parking lot and a green space. It aims to improve access to Dolto College and provide a greener and more sustainable environment, with harmonious integration into the existing urban landscape.
This new car park will be dedicated to school buses, offering students a safe place to get on and off, while avoiding going through Rue du Chemin Vert. A cycle path will connect Rue de Nuaillé to Rue des Abeilles. In addition, a pedestrian continuity will allow middle school students to get to the middle school safely.
Vegetation will occupy 45% of the surface area of the project, improving the infiltration of rainwater and creating an island of freshness in this residential area. In addition, the town hall has acquired a plot of 3,710 m² to the north of the block, which will soon be urbanized.
The lighting of the bus platform will be automated, switching on according to the arrival and departure times of the students, while the lighting of the cycle path will follow the same principles as the municipal lighting.
The plot was acquired at the beginning of May. The road work will take place this summer for commissioning planned for the start of the school year on September 2, 2024. The green space work will be carried out this fall.
