A tragedy that has brought mourning to a family and an entire community. A little boy aged just 15 months died on Sunday 30 June 2024, a few days after drowning in a fish pond in the town of Vis-en-Artois, in Pas-de-Calais, reports The voice of the North .
Helicoptered to Lille
On the day of the incident, his family immediately intervened to get him out of the water and provide first aid. The firefighters and the Smur took over, managing to resuscitate the child who was in cardio-respiratory arrest.
The victim was then airlifted to the Lille University Hospital (North), with a life-threatening prognosis despite the joint efforts of his relatives and the rescuers. The baby unfortunately did not survive.
