After the second day of rest, the Tour de France peloton returns to the road. A relatively easy warm-up for the runners, in a week which will see the difficulties increase. This 16th stage, between Gruissan and Nîmes, will be the last opportunity for the sprinters to express themselves, before the final explanation between the leaders in the Alps.
Difficulty: 1/5
If the winner’s bouquet must go to a sprinter, 1200 m of positive elevation gain are still on the program, with in particular relief in the heart of the stage (only one mountain grand prix is on the program, the Fambetu coast). Nothing insurmountable, however, for the big thighs of the peloton.
The expected sprinters
Many sprint teams should wish to control this 16th stage: Alpecin-Deceuninck for Jasper Philipsen (winner of the green jersey in 2023), Lotto-Dstny for Arnaud De LieJayco-Alula pour Dylan GroenewegenLidl-Trek for Mads Pedersen. On the French side, Arnaud Demare (Arkéa-B & B Hotels) or Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) will hope to raise their arms.
