After having a blast at the last World Cup with the Dominican Republic, Karl-Anthony Towns did not want to repeat the experience. The Minnesota Timberwolves power forward is not in the group to play in the Olympic qualifying tournament.

Last year, Karl-Anthony Towns was very impressive in the colors of the Dominican Republic. A breath of fresh air after a complicated season in Minnesota that had relaunched the interior. This season, the Wolves were much better, headed to the holidays much later and it is his national team that is paying the price.

During the TQO which will take place from July 2 to 7, the Dominican Republic will travel to Athens and will face Greece and Egypt. They could then play their qualification against Slovenia, Croatia or the Czech Republic. They announced their roster for the event which does not include Karl-Anthony Towns.

The star of the team will be Chris Duarte this summer. The Sacramento Kings player will have the heavy responsibility of carrying his country on his shoulders to Paris. The other 11 members of the team are Victor Liz, Eloy Vargas, Jean Montero, Andres Feliz, Antonio Pena, Adris de Leon, Andonys Henriquez, Angel Nunez, Luis Santos, Miguel Simon and Eddy Polanco. We might as well tell you that we don’t know the lives of these gentlemen inside out.

But it will be up to them to compensate for the absence of a big kitten and lead the opposing teams in the right direction to make an entire country purr with happiness.
