communion and emotion in the arenas

We think about nothing, we sing, we have fun, we feel good! Last night, while part of the country’s political future was being played out, the spectators present in the Nîmes arenas had better things to do: have fun! Rather than tense in front of the television watching the results. Because from the start of the evening, they were enlivened by the energy of Claudio Capéo who began with his famous song “A Standing Man”.

Intensity, back and forth on stage and a desire to connect with the audience. “Thank you very much for the welcome!”, he repeats several times while getting the crowd to rise to accompany him. A pit where he even goes to be as close as possible to the crowd, even going up into the stands. The 39-year-old Alsatian spared no effort to thrill the audience.

After about ten songs, he leaves the stage. “Another one, another one”, the crowd calls. Claudio Ruccolo, his real name, returns for his encore, “Shall we continue? Do you still have any strength?!” he answers and performs three last pieces. Including the flagship title “Riche” which tells the story of a father’s love for his son.

Then it was Slimane’s turn for a performance guided by a formidable staging. The concert began with a “goddess”, Sarah, who tells the story of Cupid (Slimane) and how he burned his wings in love. She will make several appearances throughout the evening.

The 34-year-old artist looked back on his career, his duets with Vitaa, his participation in The Voice in 2016 with Claudio Capéo and his first TV appearance in Nîmes. The two men also performed their song “Chez toi” together. For Slimane, it was the first time he had returned to the Gard capital, which aroused a lot of emotion in the Parisian. A voice that perfectly conveys his feelings, accompanied by his musicians to magically embellish each story.

The highlight comes just before the encore with the song “Des milliards de je t’aime”, a declaration of love to his daughter that brought a few tears to the eyes. Before a final intervention by Sarah who hands out gifts to the audience, confetti flies into the Nîmes sky at the time of the song “Bois de Boulogne” before “Viens on s’aime” to beautifully close an evening of communion and emotion.
