Powerful rollers will impact North Basse-Terre, from the coasts of Deshaies to those of Lamentin, in the coming hours and until tomorrow, 5 p.m., according to Météo France forecasters.
Yellow vigilance for the risk of “waves and submergence“triggered by the authorities, at midday on Wednesday November 27, 2024, only concerns a very localized area of the Guadeloupean archipelago: the coastal area of North Basse-Terre, from Deshaies to Lamentin.
Until the end of Thursday afternoon, according to the forecast, a long swell from North to North-East will take its toll. It is gradually arriving on the coasts of the territory and will surge quite strongly, indicates Météo France.
This long swell will increase in the evening, with values of around one meter. It is very energetic and will generate powerful waves on the northern coasts of Basse-Terre.
Localized submersion in low areas can be observed.
A word of caution for boat owners: anchorages will surely be in demand.
