Valérie De Bue, regional minister of Tourism in the outgoing government, addressed by video those present on Saturday morning at the provincial domain of Bois des Rêves, where the provincial authorities inaugurated the brand new spray park. “This infrastructure increases the leisure offer. It is part of sustainable tourism, accessible to all audiences. It is the largest spray park in Europe,” says Valérie De Bue.

Isabelle Evrard, provincial deputy in charge of the Bois des Rêves area, highlighted the innovative nature of this spray park. “It is unique in BW, unique in Wallonia. We were keen to revitalize the Bois des Rêve, anchored in the theme of water“.

The spray park covers 1,000 square meters. “It consists of two water playgrounds, one for the little ones with soft water jets and another for the older ones with more dynamic jets. In total, there are 76 games, plus a cafeteria and a relaxation area. It is accessible to people with reduced mobility.she explains further.

An investment of 1.8 million euros

The cost of this achievement amounted to 1.8 million euros, subsidized to the tune of 1.13 million by the Walloon Region. It replaces the swimming pool, closed since August 31, 2019. Construction and operating costs are much lower than a swimming pool, as is the impact on the environment. “It is accessible all year round as soon as there is sun and is part of the 67-hectare provincial domain, with 17 kilometers of marked trails.“, says Tanguy Stuckens, president of the Provincial College.”It is dedicated to people of all ages. It marks a turning point in the repositioning of the Bois des Rêves. The next reflection will concern the replacement of the old playground, which will remain open in 2024 and 2025“.

The spray park is accessible for €6/day, €4 from 3 p.m. A subscription is available at €50 for ten days. Until July 12, the cost is set at €1/day, as an introductory offer. Capacity is set at 500 people initially, 1000 people if possible thereafter.
