Gabriel Amard and Jean-Paul Bret came out on top in the first round of legislative elections this Sunday, June 30, in the 6th constituency of the Rhône.

Gabriel Amard came out on top in the first round of the legislative elections in the 6th constituency of the Rhône: the candidate of the New Popular Front obtained 46.29% of the votes this Sunday, June 30. In the second round, he will face Jean-Paul Bret (various left), who came second with 19.94% of the votes. Délia Agus (National Rally) finished third with 18.94% but did not collect enough votes to qualify.

Jean-Paul Bret, the former mayor of Villeurbanne, created a surprise by presenting his candidacy in this Rhône constituency. He left political life in 2019 at the end of his fourth term as mayor of Villeurbanne, under the PS label. In 2017, he revealed that he was suffering from lymphocyte cancer.

What were the results of the 2022 legislative elections?

During the 2022 election, Gabriel Amard, candidate under the Nupes label, came first in the first round with 41.30%, ahead of Emmanuelle Haziza (Ensemble) at 26.90%. In the second round, Gabriel Amard was elected with more than 55% of the votes, ahead of the presidential party candidate (44.46%).

What were the results in the European elections?

As a reminder, during the European elections of June 9, Manon Aubry’s LFI list came out on top in this constituency with 25.2% of the vote, ahead of Jordan Bardella’s RN list (16.74%) and Valérie Hayer’s Renaissance list (16.63%).
